What are the forces behind the fun??
Visiting amusement parks, full of lots of fun rides and delicious food,
is a popular summertime activity for many people and families. But have
you ever stopped to think about the science behind all of that fun?!
Amusement rides, like the rollar coasters, bumper cars and free falls, actually
have a lot of Physics involved.
Rides are constructed by using the laws of physics in order to maximize the
fun while keeping the riders safe. Check out this webpage
to learn about physics behind the different types of rides you could be enjoying
this summer!!
Going Buggy!!
If you spend any time outdoors this summer you are
bound to run into at least "a few" insects, considering that it has been
estimated that there are about 10 quintillion
- 10,000,000,000,000,000,000 insects alive at any point in time!! Armed
with just a net and jar anyone can study insects. A homemade net can
be made by bending a clotheshanger and attaching an old pillow case then
taping the net to a dowel rod. Insects can be found anywhere you want
to look - on plants/trees, under rocks/logs, in a pond, in a field or even
inside your house! So take some time this summer and see what how many
different insects you can find!
